TNUC was founded by Steve Vander Roest, MD and Karri Vaugan PA-C, two local healthcare providers with over 30 years combined of caring for our local community in Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care specialties. Our mission is to create a unique and professional environment in which to deliver high-quality care to our patients while providing a safe, supported and fun working environment for our team.

Our Founders

Steve Vander Roest, MD

Dr. Vander Roest is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has practiced for the last twenty-seven years. He has served on the board of Northwestern Michigan Emergency Physicians and provided Emergency Department care to the region for the last nineteen years. During that time, Dr. Vander Roest has lived in Traverse City with his wife Jen and raised their three boys. The Vander Roest family is immersed in the sports, community, and business worlds of Northern Michigan.

Karri Vaughan, PA-C

Karri Vaughan is a board-certified Physician Assistant and highly respected administrative leader with over twenty years
of clinical and formal management experience. Born and raised in Traverse City, Karri has a passion for supporting and enhancing the lives of those around her. She and her husband, Greg, are raising their two boys in Northern Michigan
and appreciate the responsibility of providing the highest quality care to our patients and community.

Get the Care That is Right for You

The goal of True North Urgent Care is to provide you with the highest quality care delivered efficiently and cost effectively. For Emergency Medical conditions, such as stroke and heart attacks, we recommend going directly to the Emergency Department. However, if you’re not sure, start with us. If your needs are beyond what can be provided in an Urgent Care setting, your healthcare professional will facilitate your immediate transfer to the Emergency Department. True North Urgent Care will send pertinent information in advance of your arrival outlining your care needs.
